We are a very busy family and two very active children. My husband travels a lot for work and that leaves me to make sure the kids get homework done, get to the extracuricular activities and get fed. Some changes I have made in the past year have been for health and wellness. I use coconut oil to cook foods in, instead of vegetable or canola oil. I try and have fruits on hand for after school snacks, and cereals that are healthy and not full of sugar. I like to use whole wheat flour instead of white and splenda for baking, instead of sugar. I have stopped buying chips, cookies and ice cream for lunches and snacks and opt for fruit and vegies.
Picture #1: carrots, celery, lettuce and vegies for a colorful salad. I make my own ranch dressing that is low calorie.
Picture #2: Mayonnaise with Olive Oil instead of regular or lite mayo. Salsa for salads and taco and mangos and tomatoes for snacking.
Picture #3: Fat free milk, Trop 50 orange juice because it has less sugar.
Picture #4: Whole wheat flour instead of white flour.
Picture #5: For frying or sauteing foods. I use this instead of canola or vegetable oils and you can use it on your skin instead of lotion.
The changes have contributed to weight loss for myself and healthier eating habits for my kids and husband.
